Can someone help me figure out how to copy a DVD? I just bought a DVD + - R/RW CD-R/RW Writer. It came with nero 6.0. I bought some Fuji DVD-R’s 4.7/120 mins. and when I try to copy a movie after it tells me to put in a blank DVD it says that the DVD does not have enough space. Am I doing something wrong? I tried it with a long DVD and also with a short DVD. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Regular DVD burners are single-layer burners (4.7GB capacity), but in the last 2 months 2 layer or dual layer burners have come out. They fit 8.5GB. A typical retail DVD is dual-layer (more than 4.7GB and up to 8.5GB (and sometimes even pass 8.5Gcool.

With a single-layer DVD burner it’s usually impossible to create a 1:1 or exact copy of the original retail DVD movie, so you sometimes need to get rid of extras or decrease the video quality marginally.

One freeware program that can help make your DVD movie fit is DVDShrink (http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html).

Well when I first started burning stuff 2 years ago I realize something. 700 MB/80 MIN doesn’t mean just because a file is 120 MB @ 70 minute. That you can put 5 time its size.

Let me explain. On average a DVD could hold 4.7 GB, Actually 4.5 GB or 2 hours exactly. Which is more than enough for the average movie. Just because your file is 2 GB and hold 2.5 hours of footages. The 4.5 GB rule don’t apply anymore. The two hour rule does. So cut your file in half thats my answer. Usually if you downloaded it, They would cut it in half.
