MJ_wyatt Guest | i got an .avi movie file that i want to open..
I’ve tried everything (quick time, real player, divX, and windows media)
When i open media players this is what it says:
“Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The file is either corrupt or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play."
On real player: it’s like black screen, no sound, nothing, but it’s playing and saids after a while “Bad data in AVI source file”
anyone got any clue as to how to open this file?

anonymous Guest | The file is likely corrupt (assuming you have the right codec). Corrupt files are best handled with avipreview, media player classic, or virtualdub.
If you don’t have the codec either they’ll complain. In that case feed the file into gspot and paste to us what it spits out.
avipreview - http://www.avipreview.com
media player classic - http://www.gabest.org
virtualdub - http://www.virtualdub.org
gspot - http://www.headbands.com/gspot

x julia x Guest | hi.
Ive had no end of avi probs, eithere the codac not being supported, corrupted data etc etc. try using this - it heals your files, you have to pay but u get a trial period which you can use for now.http://www.ultimaterepository.com/audio/developer%20tools/63.aspx
also alot of avi files are un supported by windows media player etc because there are sooo many different types, you could try typing the error you get into google and you’ll probably find a codac that you can install to make the file work,
hope this is helpful because it worked for me
thanx
