I am having a problem with my JVC video’s and .MOD files.

I am not trying to get the file to play on my computer, windows, realplayer or anything like that. It seems to be doing that fine. Nor do I want to put the MOD files onto a DVD, at least not at this point.

What I am trying to do is get the videos I recorded with my:

JVC
GZ-MG77u
Everio G Series

...to upload the recorded video onto myspace. Everytime I upload, it goes to “Finishing”. After that it goes to “Video Status: Processing”. Moments later is says, “Processing failed. Please try again."

Myspace has this:

File Size Limit per upload: 100MB.
Acceptable formats: .asf, .wmv, .mov, .qt, .3g2, .3gp, .3gp2, .3gpp, .gsm, .mpg, .mpeg, .mp4, .m4v, .mp4v, .cmp, .divx, .xvid, .264, .rm, .rmvb, .flv.

Now the video I am uploading is 36.4MB so I am well under the 100 limit. Also, I took the earlier advice here and changed the extention from .MOD to .MPG both file types have ended up with the same “Processing Failed” note.

I figured maybe the video width and heigth were too large but it appears to be the same as other people’s successfully uploaded files of: “Width 120px Height 90px”.

I can only assume that the problem still lies with these files going from my JVC Hard Drive to my computers Hard Drive as .MOD files which isn’t accepted by myspace as an acceptable file. Even renaming it as .MPG doesn’t seem to be helping.

Does ANYONE have a clue on what I must do to get this to upload video’s to myspace? The whole reason I bought this darned thing was to videotape my fiance’s singing and upload it to the internet yet I haven’t got anywhere in two months... I’m very frustrated and don’t know where else to go...

Maybe it’s because the file is MPEG-2 (MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 files both use the extension .mpg, but they’re different formats). Perhaps myspace can’t process MPEG-2 files. You can do an actual test by uploading a sample MPEG-2 file (google for one) and see if it also fails.
If my guess is right, your best bet is to convert the file to another format (MPEG-1 or AVI for example)
