dvsd VFW codec needed

Hi,

I’ve been working on some video captured from a Sony miniDV camera using Premiere 6.5. Trouble is, I can’t get the captured video into VirtualDub/VirtualDubMod for editing/compression (even with Avisynth) because a certain dvsd DV codec is missing. It requires a “VFW” codec. The video plays fine on RealPlayerOne and WMP9 and GSpot has identified 3 compatible codecs installed on my system, so I’m not sure why Premiere can encode the DV during capture with a codec that can’t be accessed for playback!

I’m not the only one with this problem, it appears, but I haven’t found any solutions yet.

Q: Is Premiere using a proprietary Sony codec to encode during capture, which for some reason VDub can’t access?

Q: Can I change the codec used for capture to the Windows DV codec (non Sony)?

I have the ecat problem with Pinnacle Edition 5 Dv 500. I have not found a solution yet.

Can you playback the same files in Windows Medio player?? Is it Choppy?? Mine is.

I have downloaded Video lan and it playsback fine. I am trying to find out what codec it uses so I can use it on my OP sys.

Hi,

I solved tha problem by installing the Canopus DV codec. You can either find the Canopus website (search using Google) and download the codec there (free) or search for “Tsunami codec pack download”.

A bit of advice on this codec pack: there is a ton of stuff in it and you should NOT install all the codecs and utilities it includes (although many look interesting...). Go through the custom installation, select ONLY the Canopus DVSD codec and make sure that ALL other boxes are unchecked (I seem to remember one refused to be turned off until I scrolled down to the section entitled “TOOLS” and unchecked that. If you intall too many codecs you can get weird conflicts that lead to all sorts of problems. Experiment, have fun.

hi, trie it link and this kodek, instal push on to *.ini file and press install ant restart vdub.
