Matt-san Guest | Had this problem, too, only with burning an .avi file to DVD using Nero and ImgBurn and getting no sound. I installed lots of codecs and tested numerous times, no luck. Third pass at the problem yielded a link to the <a href=“http://www.coolutils.com/TotalMovieConverter”>Total Movie Converter, nagware yes, but it worked like a charm. I pointed it to the problem .avi with this evil MPEG-1 - Layer 3 audio encoding and converted it to an MPEG-1 file. Used GSpot to determine the new audio encoding and it had been converted to MPEG 1 - Layer 2. I then tried burning it again to DVD and lo, the sound was there.

Vicki Lynn Guest | I found a way to get my media player to work even with the missing codec C00D10D1-MPEG-1(50) — and when it says file is missing media rights....it took me almost 2 weeks but I finally got mine to work. What I did was this...on the item that you are wanting to sync-right click the mouse — save target as-a box will come up — downloading-another box will come up this is where you will save the file too...I chose music..the file will download then you close the file. go to media player open the music on the right hand side and there is your file. right click to add to sunc list and then starr sync....that is it....I am so proud that I found a way to go around all the downloads and bull that all these sites were sending me too. I was ready to scream...I know this will help all of you.....Vicki

6monthVistauser Guest | FINALLY! Thank you for that suggestion. By renaming the extension to .mp2, I was able to play the file. I agreed with the interim comments about how it feels frustrating see the “me too” comments, without too many solutions. However, in the end, the solution provided has helped me tremendously. I use Vista Ultimate x64 bit and Windows Media player 11.

Cowboy-Wannabe Guest | I am having the same problem, and is running on Windows Vista as well. After over a year of consumer release, Vista seems to have more and more problems! And the only reason I’m stuck with it is because I got a new computer.

atreby Guest | Guest You’ve encountered an error message C00D10D1 while using Windows Media Player. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue.
Codec is missing
Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or cannot play either the audio or video portion of the file) because the Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec is not installed on your computer.
I am having a lot if trouble locating this...if anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

ten-o-ten Guest | I have the same problem. Then I switch to use Realplayer Ver 11. Which is the latest ver. For me it plays all of my files without a tiny problem.
It works with all major file types, it’s good enough for your daily use.
Don’t waste your time to find code 50, you won’t find it, I have been trying to find it for about two weeks and find none. Just forget the window media player.
Try Realplayer11, you will happy you did it.

fruedian_slop Guest | Renaming to .mp2 worked for me to fix this error. For those whom it didn’t work for, make sure that you renamed the file extension type, rather than just making the full filename blahblah.mp2.mp3. If your files are set not set to show the full extension, it’s very possible you made this mistake.
If that doesn’t work, get WinAmp. It’s free, and much better than WMP11!
