You’ve encountered an error message C00D10D1 while using Windows Media Player. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue.

Codec is missing
Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or cannot play either the audio or video portion of the file) because the Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec is not installed on your computer.

I am having a lot if trouble locating this...if anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

This Forum sucks, everyone ask but nobody actually gives a solution for the problem. If you’re going to say “I have the same problem” or “Same here..." you should better NOT WRITE ANYTHING!, this way you won’t make people to waste time reading your COMPLETLY USELESS AND LACK OF SENSE POSTS. Value your time and other’s time as well.

I downloaded an MP3 audio file that will not play under Media Player. I did have success getting it to play on iTunes, which is a FREE download from the internet. Problem is, I can’t burn it to a CD. I guess I’ll just have to get a different copy of the file.

If its an .MP3 file, try renaming it to .MP2 and play in WMP. If it plays, the encoding of the file is not proper and that is why WMP is giving error. So its not WMPs fault but file encoding is the culprit.

If you really need mp3, re-encode using some software.

Tried renaming to .MP2, still didn’t work in WMP. It still worked, regardless of the name, in iTunes.
Is everybody here who is having this problem on Vista? WMP 11? What’s the common factor?

I have Vista (ultimate x86) and WMP 11.
Renaming file to *.mp2 worked, but stupid is, that I cannot add this file to library in WMP 11. But I can play this file. Without problems.
