M v C Graphics Designer Rep: 14 Joined: 23 Jul 2006 Posts: 8,080 OFFLINE | ya no sony had plans of upgrading the ps3 cell chip from a 96 nano metre or something to a 64 nanometre for less power consumption and better performance, it dont make it obsolete cus that cell of intel was just to see what is posible but things like that culd be slow making in production,
this confirms the ps3 cell is not obsolete its still the best on the market from what i know of ---

Can you prove it? Do you have testing data for this, and have you also programmed for both at their full potential?
80 cores though...Wow...That’s crazy, but in 5 years? I dunno, sounds unbelievable. 80 cores is a lot, but its pure, raw power they’re talking about. Is it cheap to manufacture, what about bus bandwidth? Is the architecture stable, or what? Man, I’d love to see how this turns out...
