Just looking for some codec information, and please forgive me, I’m new and still trying to absorb all this information.

I notice that GSpot is telling me that I have a Divx codec in my list of installed codecs, but under the Driver Column, it’s saying “Codec not registered”. I am able to watch divx clips using PowerDVD, but I’m having other codec related problems and am thinking this could be why. Can someone explain to me how I can go about “registering” this codec on my system, or what I need to do. Do I need to dl and install a Divx codec in order to fix this? And if so, can someone recommend which to install. I dunno if this makes a difference, but I do have divx 3 and divx5 clips I’d like to convert....would I need separate codecs for these? Pleae forgive my stupidity, like I said, I’m a newbie to all this! I’ve heard there can be problems installing codecs sometimes, so I guess I’m being a little cautious smiley

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this for me!
