Encoding a movie file to burn to dvd

Hi there

If you have like a 500mb movie file on your PC, and you want to be able to burn it to DVD, what program is best to use

I assume the program will encode it so that your DVD player will be able to think it is another nowmal DVD, and you can watch it on your TV
