Pong3D Guest | I use Gspot to indentify AVI codecs, but is there anything to indentify MPG’s?

anonymous Guest | the people writing gspot are working on it for version 2.5.
As described in the mini-faq, this is a lot more tricky than with avi.

see question 1.

anonymous Guest | I should add... mpeg-1, mpeg-2, and mp4 are containers, and there’s not really codecs involved, since the compression method is uniform for all file of each of the three containers.
as i said gspot 2.5 and higher will be able to tell between mpeg-1 and 2 (don’t know about 4).
avicodec can already do that. avicodec can’t read mp4 files though.

anonymous Guest | videotoolbox has the same capabilities as avicodec when it comes to identifying mpeg-1, mpeg-2, and mp4
