Avi playback problem

Hi all ..

Hope anyone can help me out here ..

i have an avi file that i have problems with
when trying to play it on any video player , Bs player , power dvd , etc ..
When played the avi is not played properly - it freezes picture within 1 - 1.5 seconds .. or shall i say frame rate does not seem ok ..
characters in movie moves around very erratic and not normal movement speed ..
