Here is something you all should try if you bought a non brand mp3/mp4 player. I had the formatting problem and this solved it totally.

http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-removing-memory-hack-vt2400.html

For the AMV converter

Ok, first of all you need to go here and download the amv converter: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Encoders-Converter-DIVX-Related/AMV-Convert-Tool.shtml

When you want to convert a file to amv simply click on the first right side tab get the download. You may have to move it to your downloads if it is not in there.

Then, click on the file you select and hit the second icon (output) choose where you wish to save it to so you can easily find it after it is converted. Do this for all your files you place in there.

Then, select each file one at a time>hit the wheel icon
you can change the size of this in there,
Make sure you have “try other codec” ticked, then hit OK, then hit the double arrows to start converting it.

Once it has completed, then you simply need to plugin your player to the pc, go to your My Computer, hit the new drive added usually like J etc... Now locate the files you converted and right click them and choose “COPY”, then go back to the new file added in your My Computer listing and open it, and click to paste the file inside it. It will then be on your player. (Note** I place the files on my desktop once I convert them for easy access, then once I download them to the player, then I move them. They will have a small video camera icon under them so yo know it is the right one your copying to paste in the new drive file.

If the player asks for amv format, then the files will not work properly if you do not convert them.

Goodluck smiley

I hope this helps some of you I was in the same fix as you all until I found this forum here:

The AMV converter conversion is fine. The audio is coming-out at the double the speed. I am converting AVI files to AMV. The AVI file is OK in both picture and sound. But on another computer both teh picture and sound are converting correctly. It looks like teh audio codec is not OK on teh first computer. How can we figure out which audio codec the AMV tool is using adn how to change it?
Thanks in advance.

hey there
I bought a new mp4 player from Ebay (aslo a chinese no brand) and....

I am really sick and tired of trying and trying to convert mpeg files to amv (because I just found out that this mp4 player works with amv video files I downloaded several amv converters they convert the mpeg files perfectly but when I want to play them on my mp4 player then it keeps showing me “format errror!!" only once a few files were working but then the rest that I added did not work (said the same “format errror!!" now I can’t add even 1 converted mpeg file cause it keeps saying “Format Error!!" I am really pissed off about this and so if someone knows what to do please let me know and send your rely to:

Basically it does the convertion, but after that not even its own player can run the file. It freezes after exactly 3 seconds and when i try to run it in my mp4 player (chinese; no brand) it appear a “format error” sign after a few seconds.

Does anyone know how can i fix it? I’ve read that you have to modify a file, but that would alter the resolutions, and i’m pretty much and average PC user so i don’t know how to modify a file.

The AMV player provided as a download or on disc will only play the file for 3 seconds because it is intended to preview the file so that you can make sure that the file has converted. It is not a standalone player for you to watch the files on your pc. Use the original format (avi or mpeg) for that in your usual player.

If you are getting a file error, check the size of files on your player. A lot of the chinese mp4 players have flashed memory and once you get above the true memory they will not recognise the files and report an error.

I bought an mp3/mp4 player from China via ebay and I had the same problem - it was sold as a 4GB player but only had 2GB memory (flashed to 4Gcool. Ask the seller for a refund!
