nothappy Guest | Well i cant say I am happy. I have the latest xvid installed, along with latest ffdshow, and divx 5.1 tried the later ones and they did nothing to make the video play.
I checked the spec of the avi and it said it needed DX50 however for some unbelieveable reason no matter what i install, the video still refuses to play, however the sound is perfect. Maybe its just the asshole who ripped the the thing..divx sucks so badly compared to xvid. At l;east with xvid this shit dont happen period.

* you should know you need it using a utility like gspot or avicodec)
Some Q&As about the above posts
- DivX used to have adware bundled with it. This is no longer the case.
- DivX does however have a protection wrapper and quite a bit of stuff bundled with it. If you don’t like it you can get an alternate codec like Xvid (freeware - you have to enable it to decode the fourcc DX50 during install) or 3ivx (trialware), or an alternate filter like ffdshow or an alternate player like VideoLan.
- If you have the DivX codec (or one of the others) but you’re still having trouble playing the file, chances are the file is truncated (something gspot or avicodec (links above) will tell you). In that case use an alternate player like AVIPreview, Media Player Classic, or VideoLan.
I’m closing the thread to keep it from growing indefinitely.
