OFFLINE
Hello. I purchased a JVC Everio GZ-MC200 off of eBay used. I am VERY pleased with this camcorder and plan on using it for special purpose filming of wildlife. Unfortunately, in order to get a great eBay price from a reputable seller, I had to purchase the camera with NO accessories. Well, I was able to download a manual off the JVC site in a PDF format, so that went well. I was able to purchase a spare battery and AC/DC charger off eBay, so I can charge my batteries. The 4GB microdrive was included (whew, what a pricey thing that would be to replace). The pieces of the pie that I am missing and cannot find are the AC adapter that actually plugs into the camera and the original JVC software for downloading and editing that normally would have been bundled with the camera. I understand from various reviews that the software is proprietary (ie that this particular software is needed to download and edit images from the camcorder). I guess my first question is does anyone have a spare copy of this software available? If not, is there somewhere I can purchase this software? Is there any way to download the files onto my computer (via the USB port) and then convert them to a format that I could edit?

Let’s say I get the OEM JVC software and can finally download movies to my computer. Will I be able to import these into Windows MovieMaker like my other files (so I can edit and use them for making a movie and/or DVD)?

Sorry these questions seem so rudimentary. I know that they have probably been answered before, but I cannot find a post that is entirely on point. I apologize in advance if this posting is considered stupid.

THANKS to anyone that can help!

This one is easy all you have to do is rename the extension to .mpg and it plays without the jvc software and can be imputed to movie maker.

I have renamed EVERY SINGLE one of my files from .mod to .mpg and when I try to import them into Windows Movie Maker it says:[ cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.] OR it says: [could not be imported. The selected file is not valid or is corrupted.] What am I supposed to do??? For some reason, the camera did not come with the software it was supposed to come with, so I’m stuck. Sorry, but can someone please help?

It is even easier than that in movie maker go to “import video” select the camera from the locations tab and it will ask you to pick a location to store the files. and when you now import the files from that location, tell it “all files” & you can now see them.
