Movie file problem.

Hello,
every time I try to open a movie file,
(not all just a specific one)
or even touch anything that has to do with it (its folder etc.)
windows explorer crash, I understood that I have to download a codec so it would play the movie file but I have no Idea which and how would the codec effect my computer, I would be very happy to get a answer.

i had to install a dvix codec once for that problem with DVD-Santa, was fine for a while, then had to uninstall the original k-lite codec pack for the same reason. I don’t know, too few, then too many codecs maybe.
