Alternate Windows Startup Sound

I remember my old 486 computer, it was possible to add whatever sound-file to the windows startup and close-down, thath played
instead of this idiotic window login-music
whe chosed to add 2 WAV- from Warcraft 2
when closing down the computer the footman said

“It doesnt get any better than this” smiley

the question is can you add a sound/music file
like this with Windows XP allso?
and if so, how do i do it?

you do it exactly the same way, through control panel, sound.

yes you can my friend
firstly go to control panel > sound speech and audio devices/or sounds and audio devices for classic view > change the sound scheme/ or sounds tab.
and there you go simply select the sound you want to change and find your audio file
