Follow this link - it works. I tried all the other steps suggested on this page without success.
Just download and you will see a small tick appear, then test if it works by pressing play on the media player on the website (tunr your volume up it can be very quiet) if you hear a few words it works and your files will play!

DUMBASSES! Nobody is going to go out of their way to personaly e-mail you a codec just cause you ask for it! I uninstalled all my codecs and filters, rolled back WMP10 to WMP9, and then followed the advice of “Dan55” (read the entries above) & now all my files play - except divX(*.avi) which still requires its own codec.
