Hello,

I’m new here. I’m so frustrated because I just want to know how to burn avi files to cd-r. I don’t want to convert to dvd, or do anything like that. Just simply burn my avi’s to cd-r, so I can make more room on my PC, while keeping the movies for collection.
I’ve tried using burning software, the only option is dvd burning. I just want to take an avi and burn it to cd-r! It sounds so easy, I thought I’d have this done in no time - now I’m so confused. Anyway, thanks.

If you use Windows XP, just make the right mouse click on the avi file you want to burn, next go to “Send To” and select a point with your CD drive name. That’s all!

Also you can use AVS DVD Copy. This feature is also free in this toll. Here you can read a avs/write-files-to-DVD-or-CD.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_new">guide.

I have copied an AVI file onto a cd-r, but when I try to read it now, it shows as empty, even though there is hardly any space left on it. How do I get the avi file to appear in explorer?

the disc and data has been corrupted, probably due to burning to fast or just a hickup in the burning process.

In all the time I have burnt discs (around 5 years), I have encountered this problem only about 20 or so times.

The solution is easy, ditch he disc, use good media and burn slower. There shouldn’t be anymore problems.

Hi. I’m going through a similar problem. I can see the AVI I burned to CD in Explorer, and play it from the CD on the computer, but I can’t get it to play on the DVD player. Shouldn’t it write as something other than the *.avi file in order to play on the DVD player?

Thanks.

Hi,

I have some AVI files on my HDD (downloaded from Torrent in DVDrip format) and would like to burn them to a cd. I do not have a dvd burner, can I used normal blank cd’s for this, or do I need to first convert the AVI to DAT and then create a VCD by NERO. Also, I want the cd to be playable in my DVD player and not only the laptop.

Thanks

If you get a divx certified dvd player, it will play the .avi right from a cd. They are good players to own.

To make it playable in your standard dvd player you will need to burn it as a videocd, which will take more than one cd. Since you only have a cd burner, id recommend looking for KVCD torrents next time. That format will burn entire movie to a 700mb cd using Nero Burning Rom, and you will beable to play it in your standard dvd player.

***Note to Etain the moderator. No illegal downloads were named in this thread. This could very well be some homevideos Allene downloaded. Do not lock thread.
