I have some .avi files that when I attempt an open with quicktime will not play sound, I am given a prompt saying quicktime is missing some of the parts necessary to play all of this clip. If i open these same files in M-player i can get sound. If i try and burn any of these particular files they will burn but with no sound. Is there anyway i can make these files burn with sound and play in quicktime and all other video playback programs aside from just mplayer? Thanks for any help.

Had the same issue, not sure witch of tese fixed it, but google:
A52Codec Universal.dmg
AC3CodecMacOS.sit

This fixed nearly all video files lack of audio playback (and Toast burnt DVD) with the exception of some apparantly aXXo, those I still have to play back with VLC Media Player, and haven’t tried to burn with Toast yet, afraid because Toast uses many of the drivers found in QuickTime, they will also burn with no audio, as did the AC3 movies I burnt prior to installing the above (one or the other). HATE tossing expensive DVD away!

I can tell you that with the A52 Codec all aXXo and others play fine now in Quicktime and I’m sure they will burn with sound in Toast now !!

Thanks, this seemed to work for me too! Fixed the problem in Quicktime and I assume the Toast will now work as well. To save the rest of you a google:

Bola,

Those Axxo videos are probably the fake ones. Try playing them in Windows Media Player just to see if I’m right, it should say thet you require 3wplayer to play this file.

If it does then delete it. It is a fake file, it is most likely another Axxo release that was re-encoded with the 3wPlayer shit and posted on another selection of sites.

If it doesn’t then you’re probably missing a DivX codec.

If you want to strip it of the 3wplayer shit go here:

http://wildman-productions.org/

select if you want the installer or binaries.

Install that and it will strip those damn files of the 3w_shit if you want to be sure it isn’t what you want.
