Can't see the video only hear it. Help appreciated

Hey,
I have yet come to another problem.
I was lately experimenting with burning dvds. I tried many different programs on converting file formats and other stuff. Trying to convert avi files to vob. In the process of doing all thsi installing and downloading different video format convereters and encoders I managed to mess up something. All my videos on my computer nw only play the sound not the actual video. They are all avi types and I don’t knwo what I did and what to do.
Help or any suggestions would be appreciated. I know I haven’t provided much detail but help would be nice. If you have come acroiss this problem before you’ll probably know hwat to do.

Do you have the divx codec installed?
