Playing back /dvd's

I have a CyberHome CH-DVR 1500. If I record somethingon it it won.t play on my computer and visa versa. What am I mising here?

Most standalone DVD players can only play certain formats like VCD (MPEG1), SVCD (MPEG2), DVD (MPEG2), and there’s no way to upgrade, as you can’t just installed codecs or software.

A computer can playback just about any format. However you can only play back the different formats providing you install the correct codec/software. That’s the dofference between the PC and the DVD player.

In essence, you need to convert the format you have on the PC to something that the DVD player can playback.
