I don’t know about you guys but I’ve been reading up on this story a lot and tend to come across an occasional hater who mocks Bungie/Microsoft for their “support” of the troops.(their quotes, not mine) In reading all of the forums discussing this story I’ve picked up little bits from different people and their response to the “PR stunt”.

They say Microsoft has been supporting the troops for 4 years now. (xbox is only 5 years old, xbox live 4) They tell how Microsoft gives xboxes to troops AND their families so they can keep in touch through Xbox live. and Bill Gates/Microsoft donate more to charity than anyone in the world by a longshot.

If they’ve been doing this for the troops for 4 years now and I’ve never heard of it than I don’t think it’s a PR stunt. This is the kind of thing that people aren’t going to fully appreciate. This is the only reason I’m writing this post. I want to personally thank Bungie for what they did.

We all know how protective they are of Halo and I’m sure it was worrisome for them. I apologize if this post has been done but it wasn’t in the first page and I don’t feel like trolling through it all to find out. Thanks Bungie. Thanks Microsoft. You’re making more difference over there than you’ll know.

Dude, it is a PR stunt. They’re trying to promote the 360, video games, and Microsoft as a whole. They know it will give them the sort of positive attention they need which continues to distract the ignorant masses who think Microsoft makes the best stuff out there.

I don’t have a problem with it though. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (not Microsoft) donates a truckload of money to all sorts of good causes, from the disadvantaged to medical advances. Bill Gates himself gives a considerable amount of cash to good cause as well. This is one of the main reasons I have respect for this guy. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is more to distract from his attempts to monopolize, which as you know is illegal, but then again, Microsoft hasn’t been to bad recently, so its still in good nature.

If its a PR stunt, its still benefiting people. Isn’t that all you need?
