Hi,
I’m getting a bit sick of whinging fanboys so i', going to create a thread about all 3 of the next gen consoles strong points. That way everyone is happy =P

PS3:
Graphics:
Using the Cell procceser the ps3 is going to produce some sweet grpahics soon, once developers start to understand the technology more and more they are going to be able to produce visually better games on the ps3.

Blu-Ray:
WIth blu-ray as the standard gaming dis medium for the PS3, it will have games with more and more components added with the extra size.
Just imagine a game with 200+ hrs of HD cut scences and over 400 hours of gameplay, well all this could fit on one little Blu-Ray DVD.

360:
X-BOX LIVE:
Xbox live is by far the best online service for a console to date. With over 4 million subsribers it seems that a $50 anual price isn’t a deterent.
Xbox live allows you to play against gamers from around the globe, download HD movies, get patches and demos for games, chat to your friends with xboxlive and the list goes on.

EXCLUXIVES:
the 360 has a really hot line up of exclusives for it, although the other two consoles also have exclusive games that make there consoles so popular the 360 seems to outnumber the exclusives 2:1.

WII:
MOTION SENSING:
with the WII’s motion senser controller you can fell like your in the game.
The Wii-mote is a really fun way to get everyone whether young or old playing video games.

PRICE:
The wii is by far the cheapest of the three consoles on the market making it one of the most popular. Becasut of it’s low price point it is also a good gift for parents to get there children on birthdays etc wtihout spending too much.

SO now hopefully you may all get along better and stop the fighting =P

You bring a bad name to debate.

I’m sort of tired of hearing this. As true as this is, people do not seem to recognize time. The PS2 was probably just as hard as the Cell to program for, and for the longest time the games were awfully below its competition, but by the end of its life cycle, developers finally managed to pull out its potential. It took 5 years. Now, how long do you think a completely new, experimental technology will take?

Blu-Ray:

200+ hours of HD? I don’t think so. That’s ALOT of space, and besides, Blu-Ray isn’t exactly taking off, so prices won’t go down as quickly as people may have expected. Also, 400+ hours sucks. I’m sorry, no game can be good enough to hold anyone’s interest for 400+ hours; I’d be bored with the story far earlier. We don’t need all that space, as the 360 has shown us. If you look at Kreiger, you’ll know that the best looking games can only take up 96KB of space.

I agree that Live is kickass. I do have beef with having to pay for the service as a whole just to play online, but, its not so bad to where I’ll never use it. Live is one of the few things Microsoft has done right, and Vista may be the second.

EXCLUXIVES:

Just about all the games on Wii are exclusive, and many more to come. I’m sorry, but no. The only real exclusive right now worth your time is Gears of War. Most of its game are cross-platform with either the PC, Wii, or PS3, or all.

WII:
MOTION SENSING:
with the WII’s motion senser controller you can fell like your in the game.
The Wii-mote is a really fun way to get everyone whether young or old playing video games.

So far, the Wii Remote doesn’t really strike as an uber-revolution, but rather a marketing gimmick in order to bring in more non-gamers. I do think this can, and may, change with the release of Metroid Prime 3, but, its hard to tell. I won’t be looking through rose-colored glasses anymore, however.

This is true, and by the time development costs are paid off, it will go down in price.

SO now hopefully you may all get along better and stop the fighting =P

If we keep it civil, we’ll be okay. Thank you. smiley

RageOverdose- I agree on most but Wiimote a market gimmick. Is that what you said about DS too. And look where it is at now. Close to 36 million consoles sold in 2 years and increasing every year. I have a Wii and play it everyday and I’m still amazed by it. But I’m starting to just more except it as a standard. I mean when I go back and play H2 on Xlive I mean I wish I could use it with my wiimote. Cause to tell ya the truth really FPS are better and just more fun with teh Wiimote.

But yes alot of 360 games are mostly crappy PC ports. And many people are calling them exclusives when they really aren’t.

I was very skeptical of the Wii-mote (and hte ds at its launch) and truly Nintendo is correct when they sya “playing is believing”. I really enjoy lots of Wii games, but I think the system may lean to heavily towards jsut “party console”. Most Wii owners I know really only want to utilize the Wii functionality with games such as Wario Ware or Mario Party. I think Nintendo needs to show how versatile the remote can be like in the case of Zelda.

Oh, and I really disliked Red Steel when I played it. The FPS on Wii has a long way to go, and COD3 and Red Steel are great examples of that. Halo with a wii-mote makes me cringe.

The precision of mouse/keyboard of course owns controllers anyday.

Crappy PC ports?? I’ll give you Oblivion for that one, but besides that there is no credibility for such an arguement. GRAW is a great example of game which performs much better on 360 than PC. XBLive offers a system the PC game cannot match in terms of multiplayer/co-op.

I agree, funner, but much tougher, it took me a while to get past training with the M1 garand in CoD3

FPS’s are not really better on Wii. After playing CoD3, I must say that I am not convinced. It could just be the settings (wasn’t my Wii) and maybe I was just wavering too much, but I wished that I had the PS2 controller the whole time. When I, the one who hates the PS2 controller, wish I’m using the PS2 controller, there’s a problem. I’m giving Nintendo a chance though with Metroid Prime 3. Perhaps it will be better. It better be.

And when I first saw the DS, I was sold on the idea that the stylus was a new innovation and not a gimmick. In fact, I was in its defense months before its release saying it was not just a gimmick. But you know what, I was blind to the fact that it is. It is just a gimmick. How so? How many games do you see that truly use the stylus, and I mean games such as Final Fantasy 3 or Metroid Prime Hunters. As far as I’ve seen, Hunters is the only one, THE ONLY GAME that has depth beyond simple pick up and play games such as Elite Beat Agents that uses the stylus beyond a gimmick. The best games on the DS (Mario, Advance Wars, Final Fantasy) do not use the stylus for more than simple things, and otherwise implement it in a gimmicky way. Saying that it is not a gimmick is being blind. Now, its not a bad gimmick, do not get me wrong as I do enjoy the stylus and it has excellent games, but it is still a gimmick.

The 360 games, though, are more than crappy ports. After spending years dealing with crappy substitution for the keyboard/mouse combo in console games, the 360 has finally come extremely close to the accuracy and comfort that is found in PC FPS games. Call of Duty 2 felt almost exactly like it did on the PC, and I didn’t have to shell out $300+ just so I can get a GeForce 7950 GX2 that could play CoD2 on max settings. Of course, with the PC getting ready to unveil the new DirectX 10 and Crytek releasing Crysis and their new engine, the 360 and PS3 are already out of their leagues. You will begin to see many more non-ports from this point on. In fact, more games will likely be ported to the PC from the 360 and PS3.
