Hi,

can anyone advise me of the best DVD player I can purchase that plays all media format?

i.e. that plays not only just dvd-r and standard dvd’s but also: avi, mpg, mov, mpeg, wmv, divx etc.

There is a Phillips one which is good. which one?

saw a phillips one at a shop for 85 Euros (too much)
and also saw a Hyundai (with HDMI output-which is always good) for 60 Euros.

a prompt response is appreciate before store closes for week holiday!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Looks like you’re in Europe where Philips has a good market not the same in North America. Use Google and find out more about best dvd player in the world software or standalone. Now is a transition time from the standard dvd player that play only dvd 5 and dvd 9 also some with avi and DivX but if you buy it now (in Canada the price dropped to 30-40 a player) you’re going to have soon a piece of museum because is coming the new dvd player for blue ray and hd. I’ve seen a hd Toshiba for about $500 and the price is scary but in a few months is going to go down. As the service for a brand I can tell Sony is the best, very organized and very professional compared with Toshiba or Pioneer. About Korean dvd I think I’m going to pass it for a very long time. I was the unhappy owner of a Hyundai Sonata and that was the first and the last Korean product for me. The service sucks. So Good Luck.

I have a Phillips DVP 5965K. It does everything that you want and you can also connect a portible Hard Drive that is formated to FAT32 file system, via a external usb port so you can store your movies on there and play them without discs.

ITS GOOOOOD!!!!
