Please help..when i try to open avi's

When i try to open avi files or other things i get an eror message saying that my player has encountered a problem and also my windows encounters a problem too. I used to be always able to open avi files but 1 day this starts happening with all my avi files. My mpeg files work fine, and when i try burning my avi files the burning program says it has encountered a problem too and needs to close down. I really need help...thnxs

have you tried updating your codecs?

Also what media player do you have and what version it may be that codecs updated and you need to download updated version of software and codecs...more than likely that is the problem .

Also run antivirus software and spyware software to get rid of any viruses and spyware that may have affected your system. Uninstall and reinstall your media player with new codecs update..search google for codecs package.
