Mohsin Guest | i downloaded an avi file, but no sound.
whn run on Divx player 2.1, messge shows,
“File contains unkown audio data”
and shows of type “audio data : tag 8192”
i used Gspot and it showed, audio codec as
“ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc” and video is “XviD”. it sez codecs are installed but it doesnt work on any media players.
please help.

I have a silly rank Rep: 34  Joined: 03 Nov 2003 Posts: 1,268 | Is the xvid VIDEO codec installed or the audio codec that you need? You can try getting audio codecs for AC3 wave format here:

Shane Guest | I’ve had the same error message.. Installing the ac3 (ac3filter_0_70b ) codec got rid of the error msg. but still no sound?? Could this be a driver/directx/hardware prob? Or are there other codecs out there that could work??

Regular Rep: 0 Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 615 OFFLINE | If the errors gone, the codec is working. Try turning up the volume higher. Movies with AC3 sound are often low in overall volume level.

I have the same problem and have downloaded & installed the AC3 Codec’s but the sound is out of sync with the video by about 20 seconds...
Ive used the GSpot s/w to check I have all the codec’s, but it still wont play..
Any idea’s
