Bob Doll Guest | In case anyone is still having this problem. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer; Tools; Internet Options; Security Tab; Internet Zone; Custom Level; under Download unsigned ActiveX controls select prompt and click OK. Now open your .asf file and install the codec. After installing the codec, change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls back to disable.

worked a treat. Thanks Bob.
(i.e. enabling unsigned ActiveX controls, hence Windows Media Player immediately finds the codec. Pity WMP didn’t give a more helpful error message, eh?)

Mojomonk Guest | after following all instructions, i’m still getting a message: 16 Bit Windows Subsystem
“C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT . The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." Then it lets me either close or ignore, but even if I hit ignore it still closes. Any ideas?

Worked for me too! I am still going to download that codec, 'though.
My grateful thanks to this forum. I thought my Panasonic was going to become a paperweight.

Under Guest | Hmm
The sound is coming too fast i check it with WMV files and ASF files (from Sony sv-av100) also some WAV is going to fast .. but the normal mp3 is going good
I deleted most of the audio codec installed sound drivers again and it still hasn’t changed :/
OS : Windows98 SE
Soundcard : yamaha OPL3-Sa
All films that i’m having problem with them are from sony sv-av100 camera.
Even coverting asf to divx/xvid didn’t helped. The sound is going to fast ...
Decreasing audio accleration didn’y helped either.
I already downloaded g 726 codec but it didn’helped me ...
