mkv files in VLC

hey, I have mac OS X and I tried running a mkv file in VLC and got the message

mkv: unknow codec id=`V_REAL/RV40'
main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `undf'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

I get sound but no picture. Any ideas?

As far as I can tell, this probably means you need RealPlayer to read your file.
