Wont recognize AC3

Im having a problem with MainConcept not recognizing AC3 audio.
Lets say I have an avi file. Using VertualDub I remove the wav from the video.
I run the video thru Tmpge and convert the wav to AC3 using BeSweet but after doing that MainConcept says there is no audio data when I try to use the newly converted to AC3 file.
Ive tried it with a couple other audio conversion to AC3 programs and it still says “no audio data found”.
It see’s it, just says theres no data found.
