Vaporware Guest | I have been using Ulead Moviefactory 3 for approximately 1 month now with satisfaction. Recently I decided to screw everything up by installing a few Codec Packs which contained Codecs and Utilities I previously didn’t have. The result of this lapse in judgement resulted in no files being able to be identified or played by any application-I also have installed Nero 6 as well as Media Player Classic and WMP 9. I immediately uninstalled the Codec Packs, reinstalled all apps-including DirectShow. I can now play any media file, and Nero 6 can identify any media file, but Ulead Moviefactory 3 will not identify any .avi file-I receive a message that the file 'is unaccessible' yet the file will play in the small Preview are of the Open Video File window. I use AVICodec, GSpot, CodecFinder and VideoToolbox to verify the accuracy of the Codec being identified for each .avi file-AVICodec, GSpot and VCSwap all show the corresponding Codec is installed. I will open an .avi file in WMP 9, look at Properties and find there is no Codec info listed, yet the file will play.
My environment is now what it was prior to messing with the Codec Packs, yet Ulead Moviefactory 3 still will not identify any .avi files. All necessary Codecs for the corresponding .avi files are installed. I can use Nero 6 to manipulate and burn, but this application is not what I choose to use. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated to getting Ulead Moviefactory 3 to cooperate once again.
