I have the same problem with having only sound playback on a movie. The strange thing is that I have more than one movie, and with some of them the video is fine!
I encoded these DivX movies MYSELF, and can’t think of anything I did differently between the working movies and the non-working ones.
Stranger still, ALL of the movies play fine on some computers, but on the computer I’m writing this from, only some of them work!!
— -> programs like GSpot and VideoToolbox have no problem figuring out which codecs were used, and the good and bad movies show IDENTICAL information. BUT when I open each movie in Windows Media Player, and look at “Properties”, for the good movies it displays the codec name under “video codec”, but for the bad ones it says “unknown”, so I need to find out how to change a movie so that it reports its codec to Windows Media Player...er...so that Windows Media Player has no problem detecting the video codec.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DO THIS?? HELP, PLEASE!
PS - I just upgraded from Windows Media Player 8 to WMP 9, and now all the movies work. For the original thread writer, I would suggest that, HOWEVER...
I would still like to know what the whole deal was with WMP 8 being selective like that...weird. Please reply with your thoughts... Thanks.
