WMV1 Irony

Dear all,
It’s my first time to post here and i’ve noticed that the " wmv1 codec " is turning into one big issue. Before anything, I would like to state that what you read in this thread is not to be thought of as a solution for any problem you guys might have or already had . i faced the same problem with playing files from Windows media player, it began with the audio codec " tag 161 " and then came to " WMV1 " . i got myself bentover backwards trying to get the codec and failed nor did the updates work for me. I simply renamed the file from whatever.mpeg to whatever.wmv and it worked.
