I recently bought a normal dvd player with DivX compatibility which means it can play any avi files encoded with DivX without having to convert them to dvd vob. The thing is some files it only play for only five or seven seconds then it just freezed especially when I am playing anime. I have no problem with most movies that I’ve downloaded.

I am curious as to where does it go wrong. Is’t because the files are encoded differently or do I make a mistake when burning the files into dvd disc.

If they are encoded differently why does it play for a few seconds. If the later what did I do wrong because I burn them the same way I did with those that work just fine.

First try to play the file on PC and if is ok check the format. DivX bundle came with a DivX Converter and if you have a DivX file I wonder how you burn it? If is a data won’t play if you burn as a DVD the burning software is going to transcode it.Might be just the authoring the way you load the chapters or the menu. Open the file with GSpot to check the format. DivX player play Xvid too.Another point is be sure you burn in the right TV system NTSC or Pal. Anyway I give same starting points.
