UBER 1337 Poster Rep: 6 Joined: 01 Oct 2005 Posts: 3,602 OFFLINE | I am not one to judge people by Thayer beliefs. I don’t discriminate based on anything other then people’s social intentions (i.e. “I want to kill some one” or “I’m going to kill my self” or “Some times I dream of chess” . However I have noticed a growing trend in Atheists that I believe needs to be investigated.
The definition of Atheism is quite literately “To have no beliefs” (Not a problem), but some have found this to mean “No one should have any beliefs” (A problem).
You’re supposed to be atheists; you’re supposed to be indifferent to other people’s beliefs, not Nazis. A prime example of this is the growing belief among atheists that “Any belief in spiritually is a mental illness” (That is disturbing) or that “Religions should be outlawed for the betterment of humanity” (That is also disturbing).
Now I’m not saying that these trends are dangerous right now, but they may become something that undermines the core concept of Atheism.
Atheists have also become more sensitive to ridicule, this is not a problem as long as it is taken in context, but when you start to use it in every day conversation or discussion it makes you look like an ass hole. (PAIN I’m talking to you.)
Using tactics such as “Making your selves the victim, even though you’re attacking to other guys beliefs” or “Making the other person look stupid because they think life continues after death” only serve to make people more hostile to you. They are also tactics used by radical Christians and Muslims.
The point I’m trying to make here is that Atheism is becoming something that it shouldn’t, its becoming a religion.
I erg all atheists to revaluate them selves. Is this really what you want to become? Just another hate group who thinks they have all the answers?
Heed my warning, learn to become more thick skinned, know that people have they own beliefs and that respect goes both ways. Or the way of life you practice will be tarnished by very dark deeds in the future. --- Dogbert said the deepest thing ever.

Some atheists may indeed act like that but I doubt it is a growing trend... just like how the majority of Christians and Muslims are kind sensible people I think most atheists are as well... of course there are always people out there who will set a bad example and tarnish the image of the majority of the good people who hold that belief or idea... ---
