No Audio on VCD

I’ve got the world’s crappiest computer which can’t seem to handle anything.

I have a bunch of VCD’s, all of the files are in .dat format. They work on my two roommates computers fine, but on my computer (with Windows 98) I can get the picture but can’t figure out how to get the sound.

I know I should do something with those “codecs” things, but I don’t know which one or ones to download.

I’ve tried downloading various VCD players (I currently have four on my computer) but the sound just won’t come.
