Duration of Sony cybershot movies

Hi guys, I have a question. I have a sony cybershot and when I reocrd movies with it, and then copy to computer.. all programs show a duration of 5 or 9 seconds, even though the movies are 20 or 40 seconds..
While windows media player does play the whole movie(despite showing it’s shorter) adobe premiere does not..
So everytime I can only use the very beginning of the movie..
Does anyone know why this happens?
