error with movie i downloaded

i downloaded part one (of three) of harry potter 3 from winmx. when i went to play it it says there was an error saying please check the file is .avi or MPEG-4 (something like this)

the film is actually a .mpg

anyone know whats wrong?

possible that the provider did not format the film into either,float over the icon and right click into sub menu’s and find out what format it is in
