Mpg plays sound but not picture

Hi every one. I downloaded a video file but found that the mpg file would play the sound but the picture does not come up. I have got mpeg 4, xvid, divx and niemo codecs whats the problem please help!!!! Thanks

you need to play it with DVD player software like Powerdvd. The file is most likely MPEG2 instead of MPEG1.

You don’t have to have dvd software to play an mpeg-2 file. These are often pay. You can get a free decoder like the elecard mpeg-2 decoder or play the file with media player classic
