Sound on DVD

Can anyone help me.
I recently installed a DVD burner on my PC. It works foine but when I try to play DVD’s (originals) I am not getting any sound. I believe I need to install the correct CODEC for this to function but there appears to be many to choose from. Can anyone give me advice here??
