help burning video

I figured out getting my video to another computer but am still having trouble burning it on a dvd. What format does the file need to be in to burn it onto a dvd? Is anyone familiar with Nero that can help me?

I downloaded ulead’s program called Ulead burn now. I dont know why it still wont work.
