Embedding/Compressing .avi to .mov

Hi All,

I have recently been put on the task of compressing and embedding .avi movie files into .mov files to my company’s website [FX-Strategy.com]. I am a newbie webdesigner, and my experience with this type of media files is not much. We love the training area created by Lynda.com, and we are trying to mimic their functionality.

Anyways, I do have Final Cut Pro and Compressor on my mac, and I have been able to compress the .avi files into .mov files, but the .mov files will not play on all computers. Does anyone know how to compress .avi files into .mov so that they will be widely available on most browsers? Hopefully using Final Cut or Compressor since those are the tools I have?
