Hi, I’m trying to install K-Lite Codec Pack to watch dvds, since unfortunately my dvd drive didn’t come with any software sad, and I wanted your opinion on MPEG-1/MPEG-2 decoders. Under the DirectShow video filters for playback, the codecs available for MPEG-1/MPEG-2 playback are: Cyberlink, InterVideo, DScaler5, Gabest, MainConcept, and Ligos. Does anyone know a difference in each of those codecs? What do you find better, and why?

I tried googling for comparisons, but I could only find comparisons of Cyberlink vs InterVideo. The comparison was actually of each company’s dvd player software (PowerDVD vs WinDVD respectively), but in effect the video decoder was being evaluated.

Anyway, if anyone can give me some suggestions or tips on any comparisons they have found or done themselves, or even just what codec you use and why, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
