i recently downloaded starsky and hutch using bit torrent. the folder i ended up with contained 50 rar files named dvl-sah.part01 all the way up to .part50. there was also an msinfo file and an sfv file. each rar file is about 14mb. but when i extracted the avi file inside it was 728mb, and wouldnt play saying that the xvid codec was not installed...which it was. can anyone tell me how to extract/play/combine any of these files or what the hell to do with them.
Thanks

Downer, like you, I can get it to play ok, but doesn’t really help in the burning it to DVD scope of things.

I’ll keep plodding on and see if I can get help.

Cheers

Kieron.

First try to exract the whole thing with WinRAR or sime other rar extraction software. The most likely thing is that it is a bin/cue file. in order to extract a bin/cue file into a usable mpeg I would suggest using vcdgear, just search for it on google. that is all i can think of please post if it works or not i will try to help more if needed.

Thank you very much bamusiclover2. It worked fine. I downloaded vcdgear and then converted the cue file to mpeg and the mpeg works the way it should. Thanks again!!

The reason why there are so many .rar files is to keep the download at the minimal size. Therefore speeding the transfer. The author or creator of the file set it up so when you extract the first it proceeds to automatically combine the other 49 to the first. When downloading off of bit torrent keep this in mind it can happen with many movies or even games. Just remember to extract the first file and it will automatically conect the preceeding files.

if you use bitcomet and then press open(when you downloaded a torrent file) it will give you a few of what you are going to download, you can also select the files you want to download!!

The movie is slpit for the 56K ppl Cause unlike us (or ME anyway) 56K ppl download really horrible. You can use a simple movie editor like the one that comes with Windows XP to put them back into one big file.
