codecs suddenly not working

hi, im having problems with my video codecs.. i recently had to reformat my comptuer and downloaded divx5, xvid, ac3.. my videos were working fine and then all of a sudden they stopped working (after my lil cousin came to visit that rat bastarD). i tried to uninstall divx, xvid and ac3 and reinstall them to no avail... does anyone have a solution? or maybe a program that wipes out all the codecs on a person’s systeM? any help is appreciated.. thanks.
