Steve Guest | OK. I download a movie from somewhere and it decompresses as two files: a bin and a cue. I use Isobuster on the bin part and it becomes something that Zoomplayer can play. But what kind of file is it? It has no suffix such as .mpg or .avi and none of the videosplitters seem to recognise it. When I ask windows xp for its properties it just says file.
Help me please!!
Steve

NRen2k5 Guest | Hold on!
The bin/cue set is a video-CD image.
Just use Nero to “create CD from an image file."
The resulting video-CD should play wonderfully on your DVD player if it supports VCD.

tonydee Guest | if you want to play .bin .cue movie files on your comp all you have to do is open up the .bin file with isobuster and extract the .dat file out of the mpeg floder.
the .dat file is normally called avseq1 or something like that anyways.
and dont worry the .dat file will work in divx player or windows media player 9.
or any other player that supports mpeg files
but when i download movie in .bin .cue format i just burn them to disk using nero and then watch then on the tv using my dvd player.
not all dvd players support svcd vcd or kvcd.
oh and remember the easy way to burn these file is using neros burn image window and then just burn the .cue file

FrightfoO Guest | .bin (this can be an image file of a game or video file etc. It’s purely an image of what something will look like - structure-wise - on a CDR or DVDR)
A .bin image of a (X)(K)(S)VCD can be watched on the PC using a program like VideoLAN (www.videolan.org) directly. The correct codecs are not needed if VideoLAN is used to view it. VideoLAN will use its own filters.

spiccola Guest | if you open the .cue file with isobuster then u can extract the movie as a mpeg file. When u open the .cue file it’ll be track 2 and just extract that and it’ll be in mpeg format.

paps Guest | Hi soory to interupt this conversation, but many people have sugested using nero to burn an image file of the bin file to cd. This is all good if the size of the bin file is less than 700mb. Unfortunatlly most bin files these days are svcd and are at least 730mb big to large for conventional cd-r. if you want to burn the image then you need to get a 800mb disk or try to work out a way of getting a program to let you burn the image to a dvd.

MindCandy Guest | Forget about the technicial side for now guys, they just want to be able to play the damn movie!
Once you use Nero (or the burning software of your choice) to burn the CUE/BIN image file to a CD and use your DVD software to play it back e.g. PowerDVD / WinDVD etc. If you don’t have a DVD or any related software, you may need to download some other software to play back the VCD.
P.S. paps, most burning software will allow you to burn over 700mb or you can even use the overburning feature on your burning software to fit more on by not wasting space with leadin/leadout (use caution with this).

Heck, even Xbox Media Player (XBMP) can play BIN/CUE :-)
VideoLAN can also play DVD/VOB.

paps Guest | firstly thankyou to FrightFo0 for sujesting VideoLAN it has helped alot for viewing bin files. now for any one that may read this a question, people have sujested isoblaster and vcdgear to extract the mpeg files from the bin files, i have used both programs and they both get me the mpeg but when i try the mpeg in media player i get no sound. is this because i don’t have the proper codecs or am i being silly and doing something wrong? I know there is sound in the bin file somewhere as when I open it with VideoLAN I get sound. Sorry if I am being crazy and any advise will be much apreciated

Emyhr Guest | hi
i downloaded ISOBuster but when I try to extract the .BIN it gets all messed up and says “Sector 450 could not be read”
And when I use VCDGear it seems to just search forever! lol
If there is a simpler way to do this(extracting, not using VideoLan) then please tell me. Thanks for your help, one love.

HAPPYWOOHOO Guest | Anyone that needs help and is a retard like me. This Videolan Thing works great... It took me 2 days to download this Lord of the Rings 3 and all i wanted to do was watch the dam thing.
All this video gear, isobuster, avicodec check and couple other programs just resulted in files i couldn’t play. I know i’m sure they have their purposes just too advanced for me.
videolan.org, download the program, install, open the bin file and you’re in business.. Woohoo thanks everyone.

Emyhr Guest | True. VideoLAN works great but I need the MPEG file, lol. It’s just somethin I need I guess, just to make sure nothing happens to the files
But with VCDGear, it seems to me that you need to either have the movie file as a .CUE — or have the .CUE file, and then the .BIN file with the movie in it.
I downloaded the Buttefly Effect and it came with the .BIN(after I unpacked it) and that was the 800MB file. But it also came with the .CUE
So when you open up VCDGear, make sure you have the .CUE. It’ll then ask you for the .BIN and you’re set, as it extracts ;-).
I hope that’s case the case for all movies, and not just a select few. Hope it helps. Peace
