video-r Guest | I have this new Hard disk JVC Everio, been having problems with it and tried most suggestion from the blogs posted here. I have converted the Mod file to Avi and Mpg file. WIth Mpg, it is recognised in Adobe Premiere, but no audio with it.
With Avi file, I can’t even open the file in Premiere!!!
I’ve converted into Mpg file using the SD Copy software. And the avi by renaming the file. Both still does not work, and I’m beginning to wonder why I chose a Hard disk videocam in the first place!!

If You’re in windows you can rename a file with these steps:
1. Open the explorer window where your files exist
2. Select the Tools >> Folder Options menu item
3. Click the View Tab
4. Uncheck the option to “Hide extensions for known file types”
5. Click “apply to All Folders if you always want to see the file extensions for every file no matter what folder you are in
6. Click ok to accept all changes and close the dialog window
7. You should now see all the file extensions of the files in the current folder
8. Right click on a filename you wish to change and select Rename
9. Rename the file extension to anything you’d like.
Once you’ve done this, you can just right click a file and rename it in seconds. No software required!
If you follow this advice EXACTLY, you shouldn’t have any trouble. I run a Dell Inspiron laptop. It’s several years old and not the cutting edge, so I’m pretty sure that this should definitely take care of your trouble. It did for me!

MARCD Guest | I just bought a JVC MG330 which delivers good quality video but has a fatal flaw: it artificially limits the usability of its videos by giving them the file extension .mod which is not recognized on most of the Internet delivery services. I understand that there may be a way to change that to .mpg but so far nothing has worked.
ANY MARKETING DIRECTOR WHO ARTIFICIALLY LIMITES THE USABIILITY OF HIS PRODUCTS MUST HAVE AN IQ AT OR BELOW 60.
