Hello,
I was at my local retailer the other day and saw an Ati TV tuner that offered the thruview software.

I dont care to play TV on my PC but I do play DVD’s quite often so Im in search for software that will allow me to play my DVD’s on my PC in the transparent or Thruview mode so that I can still work on the computer while still watching my DVD’s.

Does anyone know of such software and if so where to get it? Preferably or a free trial to see how well it works for me.

Thanks,

If you talk about ATI X1800 or X1900 very nice and pricy video cards. X1900 is “only” $680 and both work with dual display and use ATI Multimedia Centre included in the any video driver for ATI Radeon or you can download it from ATI web site. Here is a link to one of my favorite video card with triplehead so works on triple display and with a tag price of “only” $749 : http://www.memoryexpress.com/index.php?PageTag=&page=file&memx_menu=EmbedProductDetail.php&DisplayProductID=2532&SID=

No my Ati X1300 Pro video card does fine for my computer games and applications. I was only looking for some software that would allow me to play DVD’s on my computer that offers me the ability to view the video like the Ati thruview so that my dvd can play full screen but be somewhat transparent so that I can click through and see through the dvd movie and still work on the computer.

If your ATI card supports Thruview and Multview on the cd that came with the card you have some software from ATI like Multimedia Centre that has commands for the position of your window like a PIP and some cards use Cyberlink Power Cinema. On ATI site you can download only updates for the original ATI Multimedia Center provided with the card and if you don’t have the Power Cinema try a trial and see if is working. If no luck why don’t you ask ATI support line what software works with Thruview and if is not free look for a trial.
