Stumbaugh Guest | What does it mean and how can I fix it. I got a video from a friend and tried to play it on my computer, and this error came up. I am running the latest version of quicktime on a brabdnew macbook. any solutions to get this to play/ any players besides quicktime that might help me view it.
Thanks
Ken

RyanMcFitz Guest | I’m getting the same error. My QT file was authored on a Mac and I find I get the error whenever I try running the file on a PC, even if I have the latest version. If I run the QT file on a Mac, it works just fine.
Hmm.

daytondropzone Guest | Regarding 'macs suck' - I switched about a year ago and could not disagree more. I ran into this problem while using my old PC to do the movie converting for my PSP.
Try a mac and you will change your mind...

teedee9 Guest | I keep getting the same error when I download PhotoshopTV files that have the extension .qt I just change the extension file name to .mp4 and they play fine. Doesn’t cure the initial problem but at least I can play the files.

MessedUp Guest | Well, we’ve all learned a lesson - don’t use proprietary formats for your media files.
Macs don’t suck more, they just suck in different ways than other computers.
I’m having a similar issue playing both .MOV and .MP4 files from WinXP and Linux using VLC, Quicktime, RealPlayer and mplayer - Quicktime gives error -2048 “it is not a file format that Quicktime understands. The file header appears to be odd with an ID3 tag prepended to the “Apple Media Format” portion.
