METALLlC BLUE Guest | The DIVX Code worked for me, and I had no audio with AVI files. I do “NOT” have the ATI card, so for some people it’s the ATI and for others probably the correct codec. Divx worked great.
I’m on WinXP Service Pack 2 with the Intel 300 Graphic Video Card, Peymonster, thanks for the help.

Vrkyriakos Guest | Problem with no picture on video files while all codecs are installed which was actually an ATI Catalyst center option is fixed indeed!
Thanks!

I had an identical problem, I have an ATI based graphics card, simply re-installing the drivers did not work but have now found the solution:-
I opened the ATI control panel (Cataylst Control Centre) went to Video - Video Basics. Video Presets was set to Custom. I just changed it to Home and everything works again - problem solved!
If this is no good for you I suggest you try:-
Go to Safe Mode, uninstall all graphics card software including drivers, control center, etc. Reboot into Windows and reinstall software and drivers (individually if possible, not from the an integrated package containing everything). on reinstall run the custom setup making the system adjustments manually, This should solve the problem.
YEAH!!!! thanks dude it worked for me too !!!!

Razor130 Guest | Anyone still having problems with Audio and NO Video playing Windows Media Player?.. Or any other players?...
I had the same problem. I could hear AVI files but no sound, and the strangest part was that some of my older AVI’s would play fine.
Well thanks to an IT friend, try this site below. I installed the STANDARD K-LITE codec pack, and all works great now!!... It even gives you an alternative player if you want, and yes it’s FREE!!!!
Try these 2 sites, one is a mirror, and remember to download the standard version, the pro is for those that do their own recordings and more. Keep it simple. The top also gives explanations, the bottom link is direct to the mirror sites.
Try: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_lite_codec_pack.htm

BongWizard Guest | If your .avi files play audio but no video, it means you do not have the right codecs installed. Google the K-Lite Codec pack and install that... it will solve all your codec problems.
If you have similar problems to ctbram and barximus the problem is that your video drivers are automatically setting the contrast extremely low, so your vieo simply appears black. To dolve this, go into your graphics card control panel (eg Catalyst Control Center for ATI cards) and find the option that have something to the effect of Video Settings or Video Overlay or Video Playback Presets, or whatever and apply a factory installed sceme or press restore defaults. This will solve all your problems.

Hiski Guest | Hey, if someone still has that problem, i can give an advise.
Well, this one worked with me, but try to install Codec pack.
If youre using Vista, install Vista Codec Pack, XP -> XP Codec etc.
Thanks | |

This is the complete no nonsense answer to my problem. I had audio but no video (using WinVista Home Premium 32-bit) and couldn’t import my avi videos to CyberLink 2 make DVDs. I downloaded the free DivX Video Player & Video Codec version and everything worked perfectly.
Thanx. Ur the best :-D | |
