Marcus Aurelius Guest | That’s good so you start to behave yourself.Anyway on this site or use Google and find avi tools like GSpot and Avicodec or Video Inspector and open your media file and find out what codecs you may need.A decent collection is any lite pack you like All in One or K-Lite and besides this Xvid,DivX,XP pack and for audio AC3 filter. If you don’t have any software on your computer to play vob’s (DVD’S)you may need a MPEG2 decoder but before you do this check the video card for the latest driver from the manufacturer also DirectX. A very good tool is ffdshow and is good to have it.All from above are included in some of the packs so you can check with Video Inspector what codecs you have and what you need.GSpot and Avicodec are video analysers and opening an avi file with one of them is going to tell you the type of file, format and if you click on render on GSpot or on web tab on Avicodec is going to connect you to download the missing codec.Check download area on this screen also you may go to this site: http://www.free-codecs.com/

Liam Guest | VLC will pretty much any type of video file, without additional Codecs, however if it does not play the file or you only have sound on a video file, I recommend that you get the K lite Codec pack, its got just about every code you would everneed and a Real player alternative.
